Kendrick Lamar Makes Music History with Pulitzer

Kendrick Lamar wasn’t satisfied with his twenty-nine Grammy nominations and twelve wins. Amongst numerous other accolades garnered throughout his career, the man can now proudly present himself as a Pulitzer Prize winner in the category of music. Not only is this a significant personal achievement, but it also serves as a thumb in the eye to those still denying rap its place in the world of art.

Kendrick’s album DAMN (for which he won the Pulitzer) was also honored with the Grammy for “Best Rap Album”, and there’s a possibility his soundtrack for high-grossing 2018 Marvel film Black Panther might be eligible for an Oscar nod.

It would be difficult to deny the man has the Midas touch. While the album version (1989) of Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood” received negative reviews from critics, the Kendrick Lamar remix was met with critical acclaim. The collaboration was lauded as “not just one more meaningless stunt collaboration”, and produced a video with over a billion views on YouTube. The double brow bar sunglasses he’s sporting in said video are reminiscent of many recent release frames from ic! berlin, Face a Face, Anne et Valentin, Moncler, and more.

We’re not saying the success is in the sunglasses. But we’re not not saying that either.
