Shame, Shame…It’s Just a Name

Is there anyone out there that has not attached their name and image to an eyewear line?  It seems that everyone is launching their own collection.  This would not be a problem if they were also launching something unique and fresh.  How many times can we re-invent the mousetrap?  Oh wait….mousetrap glasses….genius!  There seems to be no prerequisites anymore as to being a fashion icon.  Large eyewear companies have already pilfered most designer tags such as Chloe, Prada, and Chanel.  Now it seems were shaking out the blanket of pop-culture and attaching one season eyewear releases to whatever falls out.  Luckily, there are still eyewear boutiques that showcase exclusive collections such as Alain Mikli and Blinde, eyewear designed by creative people who are actually designingeyewear.  If you don’t recognize the name stamped on the inside of your frame, rejoice!  You’ve purchased a product instead of a name.
